Under the aegis of Daniel Kawka
As part of a partnership with the Le Corbusier Site, the Festyvocal association is launching a biennial festival of contemporary vocal music for the church of Saint-Pierre de Firminy.
With its unique resonance, the church of Saint-Pierre is the ideal place to discover or rediscover ancestral songs, world musics and contemporary compositions.
During the biennial event, the audience will be placed in the centre of resonance of the church of Saint-Pierre. It will be an opportunity to discover contemporary vocal music in a new light. This adventure in sound will highlight the indescribable space that Le Corbusier created: an impalpable space in a setting of modern architecture.
The Festyvocal programme is designed to resound in the silence structured by the great work of Le Corbusier and his assistant José Oubrerie.
Founder of the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain and of the OSE (European Symphony Orchestra), he directs the repertoire and continues to bring musical creation up to his level of excellence throughout the world.
“Feeling the energy and the ambition of such a project centred around today’s music, I agree to be its patron… It is the excellence of the project and of the interpretation that will convey the emotion of the works, reveal their profound meaning and touch the audience”.
Artistic director: Geneviève Dumas
Ever since its official opening in 2006, Geneviève Dumas has been interested in the acoustics of this concrete church. During all these years, the idea of a biennial festival of vocal music developed little by little. This unique, original programme will present several world premiere performances.
“I want this festival to be a source of shared emotions”.
Artists invited for the programme of events: Spirito-Choeur Britten, Chœur Ondaine , Artmilles, Chœur de musicologie de l’université Jean Monnet, Ensemble Vocal de Saint-Étienne , GVU, Sinfonietta
